Freezing eggs (00cyte)

The dramatic announcement by Apple and FB is causing a storm in the
employment of women workforce .A big financial incentive of 20,000$ for
those working women willing to delay their pregnancy. Is this financial
benefit meant to cover costs now and latter and will it be just enough ? It
is wait and see policy, whether more organizations will take heed. At the
face of it, it appears to be voluntary and attractive. It is couched with
hidden reasons to help women to advance their career without a break due to
child bearing and rearing. The companies are certainly looking from their
profitability, delays and disruptions, extending paid leave, financial
benefit in child care etc. What are the psychological, medical and social
consequences are to be considered? Is there enough thought and debate on
these allied issues by experts in the field?

Technically it is possible to freeze eggs to be fertilized a later date
,But involves treatment and surgical removal of eggs, Then there is cost of
the process now and later for I VF fertilization. The consent of the male
partner is not be taken for granted, as it has to be a mutual decision. It
also depends on the philosophy of marriage whether finance is more
important, The live in marriages, same sex marriages have different
connotations regarding responsibilities of off springs. At least 10 eggs
are removed and frozen by invasive, unnatural process. The success rate of
children being born live is 50%. Does it mean that the sperm of the partner
is also to be frozen, because in the unfortunate death it will create
complication? Will the fertilization have to wait, till the women complete
their career graph by 40 to 50 years .Normally the best reproductive age
is below 40 years. What about children born when the parents are well
advanced in their age? Will this generation gap affect their healthy
relations? Will they have the joys of seeing their grand children and being
available when they need them most in their formative years ?

As of now there is increasing trend in women employment and empowerment due
to emphasis and facilities for the education of girl child . Besides women
to day compete with men in all spheres of employment. Not all women seek
the satisfaction to climb the ladder of success of rise, promotion and
advancement in career., Those minuscule numbers, who put career before
family are perfectly free to take this advantage, as many were already
doing it without any financial incentives ,.There are an increasing number
of facilities, like working from home, cr?ches at work sites, day care
centres, Freezing eggs (00cyte)

facilities, like working from home, cr?ches at work sites, day care
centres, avail abilities of nannies ,post and pre paid leave for expectant
mothers, paternal leave etc. The parents and in-laws in our country take
the burden off the mother by providing freedom to continue in employment
and consequently advancement in career, The concept of day care centres
have not taken roots in our country. In the west the new born of less than
a month are transferred to such centres, which are well managed, but very
expensive, Hence it helps women who want to continue employment due to
financial constraints and childbirth is not insurmountable obstacle

Unwed mothers with career motivation are adopting children and even resort
to birth through surrogacy by sperm donations to satisfy the instinct of
motherhood, Increasing number of rich, famous and even married couples
too in India are also using the rent a womb process to avoid the pangs of
birth. Surrogacy is no more limited to medical problems like infertility,
but has become a fashion and fad and India is the cheapest destination for
birth through surrogacy

The announcement by Apple and FB will crystallize after sometime, The
scientific advancement no doubt makes things feasible with more than
calculated risks, Surrogacy was unthinkable, and so also adoption by unwed
mothers, Live in and same sex marriages. May be it will another aspect that
will gain public acceptance for mutual benefits it is sure appears to be a
win-win situation
