Discussion:
Open letter to Goanet and other Goan related websites...

Selma concludes with:

"In keeping with this custom, a group of men who seem wordily-wise will
gather and create a conspiracy so great and chiseled, even Ian Fleming would
have been impressed. Before we know it, not only is the efficiency of the
person called into question, based on his political leanings but his moral
efficacy as well. Pretty soon, we shall hear that FN has hatched a plot in
collusion with the Chinese to systematically stem out right-wing ideology
from Goanet.

"I have no wish to join this lunar-festivity on Goanet. To FN, I can only
say this too will pass. Soon, these men will tire of this game. I'm only
sorry that your reputation will get dragged through the mud while they are
at it. It is easy to forget the 14 years of hard-work you have dedicated to
this site. It's also easy to forget that you are one person who is always
there to help someone out, should that person need your help. Not that I'm
trying to canonizing you or anything, but there it is, for what it's worth."

Difficult really to add anything on this pointless discussion...such a
bloody waste of time, such unnecessary distraction. I've just read Miguel
Braganza's wonderful piece shredding the Regional Plan.

People, shouldn't we be getting exercised about larger issues here and keep
our nit-picking under tighter control?

Hi Hartman
Six of my posts to Goanet and one to a private group including Frederick and Bosco, since Jan/Feb 2008, received nil responses with regard to my concern about the failure of moderation and excessive rejection of posts without explanation. Nor did the six make it on Goanet for serious lack of transparency. When others experienced the same and Santosh received "inappropriate" for his carefully crafted and polite petition to Goanet on behalf of several Goanetters, I felt that my Exocet was needed. But for this Exocet, you wouldn't have a clue about this little rumble. You would have been barred from hearing about it through active censorship on Goanet.

I suggest that the other issues you have in mind have much the same genesis as corrupt practices also lacking in transparency. Don't you think that Goanet, emanating from an intelligencia, should be an examplar of good practice and transparency for others to emulate? However, do let me know what other priorities there are that you have in mind. I will happily fight for them if I consider them worth fighting for but I hope you are not arguing for the local nationalism of 'Goa for the Goans' that does not have a cat in hell chance of success in this globalised society of ours.

RESPONSE: Have you found the Goanet Rules yet Cornel?? Have you read and
understood them?? Do you know why your six posts didn't make it to Goanet??
Since you wrote to a private group, I hope you heard from the private group.
If you had written to me, you would have heard from me like you did in
August 2008.

You and I last exchanged emails on Aug 17-18, 2008 regarding a rejected
message of yours. Do you want to deny and prevaricate with your humbug re
'nil responses'??

Does Cornel give me his permission to post our exchange of Aug 17-18, 2008

My dear friend Miguel,

I am honored to be the subject of your emails in Goan cyberspace in recent
days. I am even more honored and delighted that you have selected me this
week - to
stand on my shoulders so that you can rise higher and higher in Goan
cyberspace and in the eyes of Goans around the world. I am very proud of you
and your many accomplishments.

Since you told me you do everything for Goa and only Goa, I am glad to have
been of service to you and to assist you in accomplishing your goal(s).

I am also grateful that in your kindness you were able to shine a light on
me and my efforts here in Goan cyberspace. May you be rewarded a
hundred-fold.

As a proud son of the soil, may your esteem grow and may all the people of
our land know of you and learn of your extraordinary efforts for our land
and its people.

I look forward to breaking puri and drinking chai with you once again at
Cafe Prakash where we can sit and sing together "Proud to be a Goan" - words
and music courtesy Basilio Magno. I'm sure Mr Sakhalkar and all the
reporters and journos will be very happy about this. I hope they too pick up
on your bravado and learn a thing or two from you. You are such a wonderful
role model. Until then, we shall continue our efforts together, you and I,
for Goa.

I hope you will not be disappointed with me for declaring my admiration of
you in public.

Please do not hesitate to beckon, should I be of assistance to you again -
anywhere, anytime!! You know where to find me.
