I trust that the C.M. has now interfered in this issue once again and called
for the immediate release of the other 4 youth. We are getting there slowly
but surely. As Cecil Pinto put it so aptly, the next time a genuine rape
takes place the Police might not be so willing to take up the matter. For
that matter neither will all the ladies forum groups. They are being shown
that they shoot first and ask questions later.

I sincerely hope too that the all the ladies will sincerely offer their
Apologies to the acquitted boys and their families.

"ONLY TWO PERSONS RAPED ME": GANG-RAPE VICTIM: In a significant
development, the 18-year-old gang-rape victim has claimed that only two
persons, from the six accused had actually raped her. Top police sources
disclosed, that the disclosure, which could have far reaching implications
in the investigations were recorded in a formal statement. "She has
absolved the others in her statement," a senior police officer told
reporters on Thursday, June 5. (H)
