TO FUND MOPA: The Airports Authority of India appears to be keen on setting
up a 'Greenfield' airport at Mopa in the near future, as is apparent by the
recent implementation of a new surcharge for air travelers. AAI has
instituted a Rs.500 surcharge on all domestic flights in an attempt to raise
the estimated Rs.56,400 crore required to develop six major airport projects
including Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Kannur and Kanpur, besides Mopa.
The surcharge will be called the Advanced Development Fee. (Reuven Proenca

GOVT ANNOUNCES GOA'S IT POLICY: The State government on Tuesday announced
the long overdue Information Technology policy, which besides several sops
to the IT industry, also focuses on streamlining the administration through

RESERVOIRS CAN'T MEET MARGAO'S NEEDS: PWD: Despite the existence of 10
water reservoirs in the commercial town, Margao, the PWD cannot meet the
requirement of 21,000 cubic metres of water within the Margao Municipal

DHAVLIKAR BLAMES INCOMPLETE REPAIR WORK: The PWD Minister, Mr Ramkrishna
Dhavlikar, said that the incomplete repair work on the Selaulim pipeline at
Shirvoi in Quepem taluka was responsible for the bursting of the pipeline on

Goan families in American state of Florida have refrained from taking a
united stand in favour of either George Bush or John Kerry. When contact by

families registered as members but maintained that the Association was not a
political group and did not subscribe to any particular agenda. (GT)

EFFECTIVE MICRO-ORGANISM TO RECEIVE BOOST: The Green Goa Works chaired by
Wendell Rodricks in co-ordination with Goa Foundation has decided to
popularize Effective Micro-organism in Goa. EM has wide uses - it can be
effectively used in converting house waste into good compost. It is also
used for cleansing home appliances, drains as well as to keep balcony, pets,
cards and offices, according to GGW and Goa Foundation.Costa and Company is
using EM to clean its entire factory as well as to treat the solid waste
that is generated at the factory, it was informed. (H)

WENDELL'S PLAN TO SET UP MUSEUM ON HOLD: Famed fashion designer Wendell
Rodricks on Tuesday reiterated his plans to set up a museum on the history
of Goan clothes in the State in a couple of years. In an informal chat with
reporters, he said his plans had to be put on hold as the State government
was unable to allot him space at the Old Goa Medical College building as
promised. Wendell said he had plans to start the museum to coincide with the
International Film Festival of India.He said that he would open his new
boutique near the Kala Academy at Campal within the next fortnight.
Meanwhile, Wendell has been assigned by Indian cricket skipper Sourav
Ganguly's promotion company to help "enhance his personality". (GT)

have gained entry to the International Film Festival of India scheduled to

BEGGARS RISE IN VASCO: The Citizens Forum for Public Consciousness, Vasco,
has expressed their concern over the increasing number of beggars in the
port town. The Forum has stated that the beggars are seen sitting from early
morning through the night on the footpaths in the town and surrounding
areas, especially opposite the Apna Bazaar building and further accused
authorities of turning a Nelson's eye to the nuisance cause to people. (H)

PATHETIC CONDITION OF ROADS: The people of Vasco are angry over the apathy
of the government in taking swift measures to repair the damaged roads of
Vasco. The Murgao Shiv Sena has threatened to launch an agitation including
rasta roko if the concerned authorities ignore the request of immediate

government has to depend on a few successful parents to fund the education
of others. What has happened to Goan education, which was once considered
the best in the country, that now the fee structure will be based on certain
grades? Is the government unable to provide the basic facilities to its
people and now has to depend on its citizens to fund the education of the
less needy? No doubt this scheme of a variable fee for graduation may sound
grand and may win a lot of votes but the main question is "why should I do

using EM to clean its entire factory as well as to treat the solid waste

WENDELL'S PLAN TO SET UP MUSEUM ON HOLD: Famed fashion designer Wendell
Rodricks on Tuesday reiterated his plans to set up a museum on the history
of Goan clothes in the State in a couple of years. In an informal chat with
reporters, he said his plans had to be put on hold as the State government
was unable to allot him space at the Old Goa Medical College building as
promised. Wendell said he had plans to start the museum to coincide with the
International Film Festival of India.He said that he would open his new
boutique near the Kala Academy at Campal within the next fortnight.
Meanwhile, Wendell has been assigned by Indian cricket skipper Sourav

TO FUND MOPA: The Airports Authority of India appears to be keen on setting
up a 'Greenfield' airport at Mopa in the near future, as is apparent by the
recent implementation of a new surcharge for air travelers. AAI has
instituted a Rs.500 surcharge on all domestic flights in an attempt to raise
the estimated Rs.56,400 crore required to develop six major airport projects
including Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Kannur and Kanpur, besides Mopa.

matching international standards. The multiplex is situated near the KTC Bus

of others. What has happened to Goan education, which was once considered
the best in the country, that now the fee structure will be based on certain

less needy? No doubt this scheme of a variable fee for graduation may sound
grand and may win a lot of votes but the main question is "why should I do

TO FUND MOPA: The Airports Authority of India appears to be keen on setting
up a 'Greenfield' airport at Mopa in the near future, as is apparent by the
recent implementation of a new surcharge for air travelers. AAI has
instituted a Rs.500 surcharge on all domestic flights in an attempt to raise
the estimated Rs.56,400 crore required to develop six major airport projects
including Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Kannur and Kanpur, besides Mopa.

popularize Effective Micro-organism in Goa. EM has wide uses - it can be
effectively used in converting house waste into good compost. It is also
used for cleansing home appliances, drains as well as to keep balcony, pets,
cards and offices, according to GGW and Goa Foundation.Costa and Company is
using EM to clean its entire factory as well as to treat the solid waste

WENDELL'S PLAN TO SET UP MUSEUM ON HOLD: Famed fashion designer Wendell
Rodricks on Tuesday reiterated his plans to set up a museum on the history
of Goan clothes in the State in a couple of years. In an informal chat with
reporters, he said his plans had to be put on hold as the State government
was unable to allot him space at the Old Goa Medical College building as
promised. Wendell said he had plans to start the museum to coincide with the
International Film Festival of India.He said that he would open his new
boutique near the Kala Academy at Campal within the next fortnight.
Meanwhile, Wendell has been assigned by Indian cricket skipper Sourav

NEED TO PRESERVE TRADITIONAL CUISINE: Dr SF D'Souza, Nuclear Agriculture and
ancl-Biotechnology Division, Bhaba Atomic Research Centre, has emphasized
upon the quality of food by preserving traditional delicacies rather than
falling prey to the fast food culture. He was addressing the gathering as
the chief guest of the valedictory function of World Food Day celebrations,
held at the Indian Council for Agriculture and Research, Ela, Old Goa,

FRADDRY AWARDED PHD: Fraddry D'Souza has been awarded a PhD in Microbiology.
Mr D'Souza conducted his research under the guidance for Dr NB Bhosle,
scientist, NIO. His thesis topic of "Bacterial exopolysaccharides and their
role in adhesion and corrosion. Dr Fraddry D'Souza is the son of Jose D'
Souza and Cristalina Elovina D'Souza of Praiel Vaddo, Cansaulim. (H)
