To start with, I did not feel like rambling this week or rather, on this
particular very wet, rainy Sunday. But there having been nothing more
interesting to do than the GB meet of the AA de Moira (Moira Club), I
riffled through yesterday's newspapers on my coffee table, having had no
time to go through them, yesterday, but having made a note of the pieces of
news I would like to read, which included Herald's star letter to the editor
by my friend Jose Maria Miranda with an inset, all smiles photo of another
of my very good friend and foe, Dayanand Narvekar; Ahva's message (GT) not
being far from the message of the Archbishop of Goa & Daman ( Sunday
Herald); and GT's editorial along with page A9 news on Goa mine exporters
slamming the newly proposed ore cess.

But first, on GT's Editorial page 'reflections' which caught my eye and
which says. " It is amazing what you can accomplish if you don't care who
gets the credit" Author unknown? How about Floriano? Is it not the fact
that since the year 2000, when Goa Su-Raj Party emerged from the wrangled
politics of Goa with a superbly tailor-made 'constitution' based on
SELF-SACRIFICE, has he not been uttering the above reflections?, slightly
varied as in " If anyone should implement these vital provisions, we have no
problem whoever taking the credit??. Did we not see Luizinho Faleiro our
esteemed Education Minister copying a chapter from our 'Road Map' to give,
as a subject, 'ENGLISH', from STD I to all schools? Is it a SUCCESS? All
the newspapers say it is, with enrolment increasing in leaps and bounds. Did
not someone in the recently convened "Party Worker's Convention' convened by
'Big Brother- Churchill' openly suggest that MLAs should be denied
Chairmanships of Government Corporations? Is this not the non-amendable
Article 38 of GSRP's Constitution? Is it not the fact that the newly formed
'GNM' the "Goynche Niz Mogi", 'UGWF' the "United Goans Welfare Front' et al
clamouring to say "We Must Elect Fresh Faces" meaning let us send our
ex-MLAs for pastures? Is this not the GSRP's basic stand from its inception
that it will not entertain any Ex-MLAs in the Party? Is the management of
GSRP keeping itself aloof from the work being done by other NGOs (
Environmental NGO having graduated into a political entity as GSRP)
calling their work as someone else's work and we are not a part of it? How
about SAVE GOA FRONT? How about PMCA? How about GOA ENVIRONMENT FEDERATION?
Is not GSRP the 'ENVIRO GREEN SOLUTIONS' to Goa's environmental ills? If the
Cuncolcars were a little late in agitating against the CIE (Cuncolim
Industrial Estate), it would be GSRP, armed with proofs against 'Nicormet' &
others that would be giving heart attacks to Dr. Joshi of the GSPCB and our
octogenarian Goa's godfather politician, Dr. Willy D'Souza. Did GSRP not
subtly share the vital information to the Cuncolim's Agitators? The writing
is clearly on the wall. GSRP promotes people to take credit as long as the
work at hand is accomplished. It will step in when there is none to take
credits like in the 'CALAPUR'S 4 PILLARS case', 'GARBAGE ON NH-17' (Green
Park By-pass case) etc. not forgetting PIL against IFFI Ordinance against
Manoharbab's BJP and of course Babush Monserrate's brainchild, the 'TCP
Ordinance' It is to be seen if anyone will be wanting to take the CREDIT
for resolving the Mhadei conflict to save our good old MANDOVI from going
bone-dry.

And the solution suggested by Jose Maria Miranda seems to be targeting my
friend and foe Dayanand Narvekar of Aldona Constituency. My friend J.M.
Miranda must understand that Aldonkars are, head over heels, in 'love' with
Daya, first for his hypnotizing looks, before his efforts to make Aldona
Constituency the Capital of Goa (why? Is not the new assembly complex in
Aldona Constituency?). And more. For wanting to lay down his life (more than
his body?) , to help Aldonkars. My friend Jose Maria has an uphill task,
though, to achieve what is preaching.

And both, AHVA D'Souzaa (GT 30/9) and our dear Archbishop of Goa (H-
1/10) seem to be giving Goans the same message. We Goans better muster our
fishing nets to catch some of the 'moral values' that have been dumped into
the Mandovi River and which have perhaps refused to sink to the bottom
(which is soon going to be bone dry, thanks to Karnataka) and are perhaps
still trying hard against all odds to float. We Goans do need to fish for
these, more than the fish itself that Pomburpa-side Mandovi is providing us,
with all the human feces that Daya's Congress government/panchayat combine
is supplying us, which Babluis Pereira is trying to stop, even at the cost
of losing his teeth.

And talking about Mandovi's bottom going bone dry, the Goa Rane-lead
government should pursue this argument with the mule headed Chief Minister
of Karnataka, that while Goa is trying to take on most of Karnataka's 'human
' load by accepting its migrant population, he is trying to parch them dry
by denying Mhadei's waters to Mandovi. I have a feeling that this argument
alone can save our Mandovi for us.

And it is but natural that Goa's iron ore exporters should slam cess
proposal (GT 30/9) by Assocham. This will hit our Dempo, especially, now
that it is eying Jharkand for its lush hills and fields, after having
bone-dried Goa's. Also, a cess like this will only discourage exports and
encourage the likes of polluting steel rolling mills like Vishwas Steel
(Dargalim/Pednem) and sponge iron industries that we Goans are trying to ban
from Goa. Let Assocham first put down strict anti-pollution norms for steel
industries and then talk about imposing cess. Otherwise, it will be like
killing the goose that lays golden eggs, even for people like Dempo to
treasure-up. I well remember my days at sailing the high seas. We once
loaded iron ore at Paradeep (AP) for Japan. During the loading ops, there
was more ore in the ship's accommodation than in the hatches. While on the
other side, in Japan, there was not a spec of dust in the ship's
accommodation during the discharge ops. But we were stunned to see that the
ore we carried was coming out at the other side of the ship in the molten
steel form. Perhaps it is the same thing happening in China, now that China
takes on the bulk of Indian exported iron ore.

And finally, Rang De Basanti. If my readers will remember, this movie has
been adopted by GSRP as is theme motivator- 'STUDENT POWER' - to down,
smash, uproot, inundate, guillotine and finally KILL 'Dirty Goan Politics'.
And I do not blame Derrick Almeida of GT to understand all this, when he
does not think that RDB should have been selected for the showing in the
Oscar Awards (editorial GT 30/9). However, GSRP will give its own 'Oscar' to
RDB when it will be screening this great masterpiece everywhere during its
2007 election campaign in the hope that our GOAN STUDENTs will shoot the
dirty politicians, even their own parents (if need be), not with the
bullets from the muzzles of the guns, but through the ballot. And GSRP has
been publicly exhorting Goans to use this more powerful than the AK-47
machine gun (the EVM) to release Goa from the strangle-hold of Goa's
political MAFIA, which has been working hard to ruin our ordinary people's
lives.

And before I sign-off, I want to say this:
SEE U ALL AT MARGAO KADAMBA BUS TERMINUS TOMORROW at 10.00 A.M. (2ND.
October) to participate in the 'PEOPLE'S RALLY' TO DEMAND A CHANGE OF FACE
OF GOA'S POLITICS'
