Many people never miss an opportunity, to criticize, to make outrageous
accusations and to find fault against the United States. Still the visa
sections at the American Embassies and Consulates are kept busy, with
the number of persons wanting Green Cards or Student Visas to come to
the United States. Many of those desirous of coming include engineers,
doctors, and other professional people and Americans being basically
fair, open-minded and compassionate people, do not obstruct those coming
to America, who would take the jobs that Americans would qualify for.
No country has been as hospitable to immigrants as Americans.

In many countries, persons applying for a job or wishing to start
theirown enterprise are constantly obstructed by bureaucracy, caste,
sometimes religious beliefs, favouritism and 'greasing of palms'. In
America everyone is given an opportunity to excel at an equal level, and
to obtain the American dream of a better life. Many of the brightest
young Asian minds come from American universities. Recently, on a
popular television program - 60 MINUTES - four graduate students from
the prestigious India's Institute of Technology were asked as to where
they would like to work once they graduate. All four mentioned the
United States.

Many politicians and people make furious complaints about America and
American policies, and while many nations complain about US interference
in other countries, none come to the aid of these countries and we never
hear a word from them about America's generosity or peace moves. The
United States has been the most benevolent nation in history, and has
been giving vast amount of aid to developing nations and technical
assistance to nations across the world.
It was the United States through its generous Marshall Plan helped
Europe after the Second World War to recover economically and after the
war also helped Japan in its economic development. India and Pakistan
have received continuous economic and technical assistance from the
United States since 1951 in the form of agricultural development (I
remember the first US wheat shipment to India in the early '50s during
India's food shortage) and research; construction of irrigation systems;
development of power projects; programs for advancement of sciences and
communication technology; developing and assisting of the private sector;
establishing of colleges and universities; improving the health system
and building of hospitals and medical clinics; developing of the fishing
and poultry industries; developing and assisting in modernizing and
improving the airlines; shipping and railway systems; sending Indians
and Pakistanis to the United States for training and on college
scholarships; providing aid and training of the Armed Forces. India has
received over $13 billion in economic assistance alone.

America has contributed immensly to uplifting Asian Society and no
nation can even closely match US assistance given to under-developed
nations. Most European Countries and former Soviet Union (USSR) used
their power to advance theirown national interests.

Many nations and people many not accept America's policies, but all want
to emulate much of America's economic approach and American way of
living. Do they support and thank America or do they blame America for
all the world's problems ? Disagreeing with some of America's policies
is fair and justifable, but, I refuse to blame America for the world's
problems. Nations have to take responsibility and resolve theirown problems.

Today the United States is the only country in the world, that has the
expertise, good intentions and financial ability to put together a new
Iraqi government and to rebuild Iraq and to look after the welfare of
the Iraqi people. Many nations only talk and they fail to perform. If
lucrative contracts are going to be awarded to America Companies. So be
it - the people hired locally by these companies can be sure of getting
a fair deal and to get well remunerated. I am sure they will all welcome
American Companies.

God Bless America.

SHOULD I GIVE YOU A COST OF EACH MISSILE AND OF DIFFERENT WEAPONS IN THE

HERE I GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE OF US LARGESE. SCROOGE WOULD HAVE DONE BETTER.
ORIGINALLY THE US COMMITTED 200 MILLION DOLLARS TO THE AIDS FUND. THEN
COUGHED IN GENOA GROSSLY OUT OF SCALE WITH THE SIZE OF THE US ECONOMY AND THE

Lenny Barretto,
I challenge you to apply your earlier comments to those of Arab decent live in the United States. The United States is not what you claim it to be:

"being basically fair, open-minded and compassionate people, do not obstruct those coming to America, who would take the jobs that Americans would qualify for."

Ask yourself why thousands of Arab refugees fled to Canada after 9/11. Also note that the INS has adopted racial profiling as a method to weed out possible terrorists. Arab Americans are targeted time and time again. Also ask yourself why Arab Americans are being photographed, fingerprinted, and interviewed at the border.

Although you would like to apply "Religious beliefs, favouritism and 'greasing of palms'" as being symptomatic of 3rd world nations, I would like to point out that they also exist in the United States. Ask a 'person of colour' who lives in the good old south how fairly he or she is treated.

Yes, God bless America. It's just made a few more enemies. I do not feel sorry for the American government. I feel sorry for the American people. Particularly those whose voices have been silenced by the wave of Nationalism which has swept from one corner of the country to the other. To criticize the White house is to be condemned by your fellow American and dubbed a "terrorist sympathizer".

You also made the following statement:

The United States has been the most benevolent nation in history, and has been giving vast amount of aid to developing nations and technical assistance to nations across the world.

Oh really? Then why is is that the United States has not paid it's fair share to the United Nations? Go check the figures for yourself. You would be well advised to do your research concerning "aid". Aid money always have strings attached. Nations who recieve aid money are required, as part of the "contract", to spend a money according to the dictates of the donor country. More often than not, the nation in question must purchase antiquated military hardware, arms, and specific material from the donor country in order to recieve "aid".

You also wrote:

Today the United States is the only country in the world, that has the expertise, good intentions and financial ability to put together a new Iraqi government and to rebuild Iraq and to look after the welfare of the Iraqi people.

And maybe you could enlighten us as to the role that the U.N. should play? You really believe that America spent billions upon billions of dollars on a war for the sole purpose of guaranteeing "the welfare of the Iraqi people"? Wrong. They conducted the war in the name of the "safety and security" of the United States. Any Conservative will tell you that the reason why the United States still remains in Iraq is simply to ensure that there is a Iraq government that will allow "democratic principles" to be inroduced into Iraq. With democratic principles comes Capitalism. With capitalism comes wealth for the United States. The United States is cultivating the garden for future U.S. growth.

I ak you,"Equality and Freedom for all"? A sardonic laugh can be heard in the background.

I was out of town and could not reply to you earlier.Bosco has given you
accurate and meaningful answers to your questions. I would like to
further add:

On United Nations - In my opinion the United States should drastically
cut its contribution to the United Nations and allocate more money to
(Kennedy's) Peace Corp Program and to CARE. People from the developing
world, would rather be helped by those who live and work with them, like
the Peace Corp volunteers, than the bureaucrats who visit them dressed
in suits and in chauffeur driven limousines. Many Peace Corp volunteers
are professional people with much experience in their respective fields,
they work for less and achieve more.

Bribery and favouritism - True, favouritism and bribery prevails in the
United States. However, in many developing nations, people have to bribe
and pay illegaly to obtain services and for things that are ones legal
right to have (such as licenses; telephone connections;passports and to
have papers processed). In the United States one bribes to do things that
are illegal. Both are wrong morally. But one effects all in their daily
lives and in their welfare. The other only effects a select few who have
immoral habits and lives.

USAID - Statements and literature on the amount of USAID given by the
United States to various nations can be obtained by contacting the
United States Agency for International Development in Washington D.C.
and from the Embassies or Consulates that have been receiving aid.

*I challenge you to apply your earlier comments to those of Arab
decent live in the United States. The United States is not what you
claim it to be:*
"being basically fair, open-minded and compassionate people, do not
obstruct those coming to America, who would take the jobs that
Americans would qualify for."
*Ask yourself why thousands of Arab refugees fled to Canada after
9/11. Also note that the INS has adopted racial profiling as a method
to weed out possible terrorists. Arab Americans are targeted time and
time again. Also ask yourself why Arab Americans are being
photographed, fingerprinted, and interviewed at the border.*
*Although you would like to apply* "*Religious beliefs, favouritism
and 'greasing of palms'" as being symptomatic of 3rd world nations,
I would like to point out that they also exist in the United States.
Ask a 'person of colour' who lives in the good old south how fairly he
or she is treated.*
**
*Yes, God bless America. It's just made a few more enemies. I do not
feel sorry for the American government. I feel sorry for the American
people. Particularly those whose voices have been silenced by the wave
of Nationalism which has swept from one corner of the country to the
other. To criticize the White house is to be condemned by your fellow
American and dubbed a "terrorist sympathizer".*
**
*You also made the following statement:*
**
The United States has been the most benevolent nation in history, and
has been giving vast amount of aid to developing nations and technical
assistance to nations across the world.
**
*Oh really? Then why is is that the United States has not paid it's
fair share to the United Nations? Go check the figures for yourself.
You would be well advised to do your research concerning "aid". Aid
money always have strings attached. Nations who recieve aid money are
required, as part of the "contract", to spend a money according to the
dictates of the donor country. More often than not, the nation in
question must purchase antiquated military hardware, arms, and
specific material from the donor country in order to recieve "aid". *
**
*You also wrote:*
**
Today the United States is the only country in the world, that has the
expertise, good intentions and financial ability to put together a new
Iraqi government and to rebuild Iraq and to look after the welfare of
the Iraqi people.
**
*And maybe you could enlighten us as to the role that the U.N. should
play? You really believe that America spent billions upon billions of
dollars on a war for the sole purpose of guaranteeing "the welfare of
the Iraqi people"? Wrong. They conducted the war in the name of the
"safety and security" of the United States. Any Conservative will tell
you that the reason why the United States still remains in Iraq is
simply to ensure that there is a Iraq government that will allow
"democratic principles" to be inroduced into Iraq. With democratic
principles comes Capitalism. With capitalism comes wealth for the
United States. The United States is cultivating the garden for future
U.S. growth.*

Alrightee-now.....another month has gone by......looks

Ask yourself why thousands of Arab refugees fled to
Canada after 9/11.

+++ Is it because Mexico wouldn't take them ??? Or
because Canada is perceived as being "easy" for refugee
claims. If the "Arabs" as you call them were living
legally in the US there was no need to flee to Canada -
the land of the ascending loonie or any place
else.......Now.... is it possible that Arabs had
anything to do with 9/11 ?? Sure looks like a
possibility, eh ?? I'm certain I heard that word
"Arabs" mentioned several times alongwith the events.
Post by Samuel Domingo
Also note that the INS has adopted racial profiling
as a method to weed out possible
terrorists.

+++ I suppose you have better ideas to weed out
possible terrorists. Let's hear them !!
Post by Samuel Domingo
Arab Americans are targeted time and time again. Also
ask yourself why Arab Americans are being photographed,
fingerprinted, and interviewed at the border.

+++ People born from over 20 nationalities are
targetted for finger-printing, including our buddies,
Pakistanis. And Malaysians. Not just Arabs. Yes Muslims
are being targetted. But then again no Hindu, Christian
or Atheistic fundamentalists were involved in 9/11.
You'll be happy to read........

Post by Samuel Domingo
Oh really? Then why is is that the United States has
not paid it's fair share to the United Nations? Go
check the figures for yourself.

+++ Because the US has asked the UN to change it's
wasteful ways. At least that is the official version.
We also know it is also related to the next sentence.
Post by Samuel Domingo
Aid money always have strings attached. Nations who
recieve aid money are required, as part of the
"contract", to spend a money according to the dictates
of the donor

+++ OK.....now you name a country that has provided aid
to another country without strings attached. And you'd
rather let the rich countries give money to the poor
countries and let them do what they like with the
$$$$.......and come back in a few years for more $$$$
And then blame the rich countries for keeping the poor,
poor !!
Post by Samuel Domingo
You really believe that America spent billions upon
billions of dollars on a war for the sole purpose of
guaranteeing "the welfare of the Iraqi people"? Wrong.
They conducted the war in the name of the "safety and
security" of the United States.

+++ Heck, you're wrong too......they spent the billions
so that people like Edgar Martins can pump cheap gas
while living in the US/Canada and pay twice or more
when he pumps gas into his scooty in Goa during the
winter.
Post by Samuel Domingo
Any Conservative will tell you that the reason why
the United States still remains in Iraq is simply to
ensure that there is a Iraq government that will
allow "democratic principles" to be inroduced into
Iraq. With democratic principles comes Capitalism. With
capitalism comes wealth for the United States.

+++ And cheap gas and commodities for all capitalist
economies......low-low inflation - does not guarantee
jobs though....:-( But then again we can't put
anything past the US "establishment" !! BTW will
non-conservatives tell us anything different ??
Post by Samuel Domingo
I ak you,"Equality and Freedom for all"? A sardonic
laugh can be heard in the background.

+++ Yes !!! The US is not the Garden of Eden !! But
then who comes close ?? There's a lot of truth to what
Lenny wrote......people are still queuing to squeeze
into the US......Arabs, et al !! The search for Eden
continues..........

A very good riposte, Bosco - unfortunately you will only provoke further
rebuttal from some Smartin.
I have heard of people going to great lengths to take back Goa sauusages to
their domiciled countries.
The smartin actually goes to Goa to take back vegie sausages. As I inferred
some people are always right
or like to think they are. When they are caught with their pants down they
come back like a wonded

Lenny Barretto,

You are barking up the wrong tree. I have worked
in Africa as a volunteer and had many links with USAID and peace workers. The
USAID staff are the fat ones and the kids are the Peace Corps workers. These
green horns were paid poorly and did practically nothing. Many (both sexes)
moved about in bars looking for men and women like cats on hot tin roofs.
What could university graduates accomplish in rural Africa? What experience
did they have to impart to the local people? Does the US think that the local
people do not have an educational standard? I worked on the problem of
providing potable water that was disease free. The guinea worm was the
scourge of West Africa. I built West Africa's biggest biogas digester on the
Indian model. It was a successful venture. I spent my spare time giving
lessons in science and maths. I spoke French as this was the language of
instruction there.

The US wastes it's money and appears that it is helping the locals.
They could send doctors, qualified teachers, build a university on the lines
of the American University in Beirut or Cairo and cure aids and poverty. They
ought to pay them a fair price for their cotton, tobacco, cocoa, sugar, sisal
and minerals. Take SA where DE Boers has been exploiting the diamonds for a
long time and the African is still poor and deprived of his spouse for long
periods with the result that he is compelled to seek pleasure with whores.
Result: AIDS. Africa's problems are insurmountable as families are being
deprived of bread winners and the youngsters take to car jackings and crime
(incl. murder).

I could write and write but will you understand the folly of US foreign
policy? Misguided and utterly for the benefit of guys like Cheney, Bush and
Rumpfeld, using Uncle Toms like Condy and Powel. I eat politics for breakfast
and supper and know fully that the US is on a slippery slope. The week
started in Riyadh and ended in Casablanca (Humpfrey Bogart would be
appalled). Fellows like you and Viviana and Gift of the Gab Menezes think
they can bamboozle me with nonsense. Your opinions are anathema to the US
policy makers. Cutting of all contributions to the UN is foolhardy and
expected from a Goan who does not understand the machinations of this
organisation. Please answer my postings line by line and rebuttals will be
accepted.

Do not persist as long as I am here to respond. I will demolish every
false argument. You are to me what Leo Rebello is to Santosh.

accurate and meaningful answers to your questions. I would like to
On United Nations - In my opinion the United States should drastically
cut its contribution to the United Nations and allocate more money to
(Kennedy's) Peace Corp Program and to CARE.

Americans would qualify for."
*Ask yourself why thousands of Arab refugees fled to Canada after

required, as part of the "contract", to spend a money according to the
dictates of the donor country. More often than not, the nation in

"safety and security" of the United States. Any Conservative will tell
you that the reason why the United States still remains in Iraq is
simply to ensure that there is a Iraq government that will allow

India and Pakistan
have received continuous economic and technical assistance from the
United States since 1951 in the form of agricultural development (I
remember the first US wheat shipment to India in the early '50s during
India's food shortage) and research; construction of irrigation systems;
development of power projects; programs for advancement of sciences and
communication technology; developing and assisting of the private sector;
establishing of colleges and universities; improving the health system
and building of hospitals and medical clinics; developing of the fishing
and poultry industries; developing and assisting in modernizing and
improving the airlines; shipping and railway systems; sending Indians
and Pakistanis to the United States for training and on college
scholarships; providing aid and training of the Armed Forces. India has
received over $13 billion in economic assistance alone.

I was out of town and could not reply to you earlier.Bosco has given you
accurate and meaningful answers to your questions. I would like to
On United Nations - In my opinion the United States should drastically
cut its contribution to the United Nations and allocate more money to
(Kennedy's) Peace Corp Program and to CARE.

Best wishes,

Many people never miss an opportunity, to criticize, to make
outrageous accusations and to find fault against the United States.
Still the visa sections at the American Embassies and Consulates are
kept busy, with the number of persons wanting Green Cards or Student
Visas to come to the United States. Many of those desirous of coming
include engineers, doctors, and other professional people and

do not obstruct those coming to America, who would take the jobs that

Ask yourself why thousands of Arab refugees fled to
Canada after 9/11.

+++ Is it because Mexico wouldn't take them ??? Or
because Canada is perceived as being "easy" for refugee
claims. If the "Arabs" as you call them were living
legally in the US there was no need to flee to Canada -
the land of the ascending loonie or any place
else.......Now.... is it possible that Arabs had
anything to do with 9/11 ?? Sure looks like a
possibility, eh ?? I'm certain I heard that word
"Arabs" mentioned several times alongwith the events.
Post by Samuel Domingo
Also note that the INS has adopted racial profiling
as a method to weed out possible
terrorists.

+++ I suppose you have better ideas to weed out
possible terrorists. Let's hear them !!
Post by Samuel Domingo
Arab Americans are targeted time and time again. Also
ask yourself why Arab Americans are being photographed,
fingerprinted, and interviewed at the border.

+++ People born from over 20 nationalities are
targetted for finger-printing, including our buddies,
Pakistanis. And Malaysians. Not just Arabs. Yes Muslims
are being targetted. But then again no Hindu, Christian
or Atheistic fundamentalists were involved in 9/11.
You'll be happy to read........

India and Pakistan
have received continuous economic and technical assistance from the
United States since 1951 in the form of agricultural development (I
remember the first US wheat shipment to India in the early '50s during
India's food shortage) and research; construction of irrigation systems;
development of power projects; programs for advancement of sciences and
communication technology; developing and assisting of the private sector;
establishing of colleges and universities; improving the health system
and building of hospitals and medical clinics; developing of the fishing
and poultry industries; developing and assisting in modernizing and
improving the airlines; shipping and railway systems; sending Indians
and Pakistanis to the United States for training and on college
scholarships; providing aid and training of the Armed Forces. India has
received over $13 billion in economic assistance alone.

Pakistanis. And Malaysians. Not just Arabs. Yes Muslims
are being targetted. But then again no Hindu, Christian
or Atheistic fundamentalists were involved in 9/11.

Oh really? Then why is is that the United States has
not paid it's fair share to the United Nations? Go
check the figures for yourself.

+++ Because the US has asked the UN to change it's
wasteful ways. At least that is the official version.
We also know it is also related to the next sentence.

Aid money always have strings attached. Nations who
recieve aid money are required, as part of the
"contract", to spend a money according to the dictates
of the donor

+++ OK.....now you name a country that has provided aid
to another country without strings attached. And you'd
rather let the rich countries give money to the poor
countries and let them do what they like with the
$$$$.......and come back in a few years for more $$$$
And then blame the rich countries for keeping the poor,
poor !!

You really believe that America spent billions upon
billions of dollars on a war for the sole purpose of
guaranteeing "the welfare of the Iraqi people"? Wrong.
They conducted the war in the name of the "safety and
security" of the United States.

+++ Heck, you're wrong too......they spent the billions
so that people like Edgar Martins can pump cheap gas
while living in the US/Canada and pay twice or more
when he pumps gas into his scooty in Goa during the
winter.

I ak you,"Equality and Freedom for all"? A sardonic
laugh can be heard in the background.

+++ Yes !!! The US is not the Garden of Eden !! But
then who comes close ?? There's a lot of truth to what
Lenny wrote......people are still queuing to squeeze
into the US......Arabs, et al !! The search for Eden
continues..........

Best wishes,

U.S. growth.*

*I ak you,"Equality and Freedom for all"? A sardonic laugh can be
heard in the background.*
